Default acid indigestion

Well if the old wives tale is true, then this baby is ALL girl. I have tried taking tums before I eat. That doesnt help. I have tried taking them after I eat. That doesnt help. If I let myself get too hungry then eat until I am full, I get it. So no matter how hungry I am, I can only eat a small amount. So I have to eat several small meals a day and never get hungry. Some days I can eat something and then the very next day I cant. I just tried to eat lasagna. Big mistake. I cant drink juice. No apple, orange, or grape juice. Unfortunately I am craving juice. Cereal and I have become close friends. So close that I have gone through most of my stock. It needs to go on sale again soon! lol So my question is, any suggestions? I need help! I am tired of my tummy hurting, not being able to eat what I want, and when I do burping up acid. The things we go through to bring a life into thid world. lol All worth it in the end.

Have you tried ginger capsules? They are not specifically for acid indigestion, but they do work really well for upset tummies in general.

From someone who has had severe GERD since about 15, saltines, saltines, and more saltines. Don't let yourself get hungry. Snack all day (and night) on very small portions. A remedy that sometimes helps me is some bitters in a shot glass with a squeeze of lime and soda. Oh yeah, NO LASAGNA!

funny - i had heard heartburn had nothing to do with sex but with the amount of hair your child has. I had 4 boys - and 4 healthy heads fo hair! Lol

anyhow - I recommend the lots of small meals. also talk to your doc- there are sometings you CAN take.

also try papaya enzymes. you can get them at your local HFS

Ok so no lasagna, no pizza, no mexican, no juice, no steak with seasoning, ummm whatelse. lol With my son I could eat anything and everything. And I did! This one I have only gained 11 lbs which is great. I gained to much with the the last one. Right on schedule with this one. But its only because I cant eat very much.

I have always heard that it meant a girl. Good to know I still have a chance of a boy with a full head of hair! lol Thanks for the suggestions.

No suggestions, just a little sympathy. I have had HORRENDOUS heartburn so far with this baby (which is a girl). Same story - doesn't matter how much or what I eat. Nighttime is the worst - seems like every time I roll over I trigger another backflow (for lack of a better phrase). I never heard the sex thing, but I had the same problem with my first, who was a boy, and he was born with a full head of hair, so so far that old wives' tail has proven true.

We put 2 large books under the head of the bed to keep it elevated about 6 inches higher. You don't notice it laying down, but the acid stays down at least while sleeping.

I had horrendous heartburn with baby 1 and I had actually lost weight up until month 6. No worries about baby, she weighed 8 lbs 11 oz at birth. The baby will take what it needs, even if it doesn't feel like enough.

I have to deal with daily heartburn then on top of being pregnant I thought I was going to DIE. Milk never helped, actually OJ did but not for long... after Kaytlyn was born I was on Nexium but that was costing me about $35 a month and GGers can sympathize that it was too much!

Try this... it helps calm your stomach and seriously helps with heartburn. It tastes icky at first but after about a day or so of sipping this through the day you will eventually come to like it, it's good for you (Google it and see) and it neutralizes heartburn and will cost you about $2 a month.

Get a bottle of water and plan to keep that at your hand all day.
Put in about 2 to 4 teaspoons of Apple Cidar Vinegar making it a nice golden color.
Then add in about 2 to 4 teaspoons of honey for taste. It won't be good at first like I said but soon you'll be weaning off of the honey.

Whenever you feel heartburn coming on take a few sips of this. Like I said keep it with you all day and eventually it makes the heartburn less and less... heck I was craving this stuff even when I didn't HAVE heartburn after a week or two.

Hope that helps.

That's what I heard too! In fact I never had heartburn a day in my life until I was pregnant with DD. She was born with a head full of hair and she gets comments all the time on her crazy hair! lol! So, I totally believe that heartburn means a head full of hair.

Unfortunately I have no tips on how to deal with it. I just suffered because I was too stubborn to take some tums.

I too had this throughout my my pregnancy. I just used Pepcid everyday. However, there are RX's if OTC doesn't help.

I agree w/ eating small meals. Nothing w/ acid (oranges, tomatoes, etc)

Hope you feel better
