My apartment has been condemned! Long..

A while back I posted about the little fireplace heating thing that our new apartment has that kinda freaked me out. Admin Irock knew what I was talking about.

DF and I are renting a kinda crappy apt. for this year thats usually rented to college students b/c he's finishing grad school this year and we are living on my income. We only planned to be here until June, buy a home, and leave.

Well the girls upstairs called the city to inspect because they were unhappy that one room was pretty hot, but the heat was not reaching their back room. The heating system does not meet code as adequate, so they notified the landlord he has to do something, long story short. B/C the 2 apartments in the house are listed as one property this is affecting us as well. Talked to the code guy today who said he was working on it and making the house uninhabitable was not going to happen.

Went out to dinner with DF and came home a 2 hours later to a big "condemned sign" Apparently the city manager was annoyed with no response from the landlord and condemed the whole house. We are supposed to be out by Monday!!! The real estate agent we rent from offered a hotel, but we have 2 dogs, so what are we supposed to do!? DF's brother is an attorney who said that we can likely stay until the agents can find us another place, but that still means an abrupt move. I am very depressed and can't believe this is happening!

Oh no. That is so awful especially having to move with pets. I too once had to do an abrupt move and it was not fun. I hope everything works out for you and keep us posted.

What an awful situation! I hope everything turns out for the best. Keep your chin up and wish for a nicer apartment at the same price.

You can deal with it and hopefully something better will come out of it!

I once moved my entire household (hubby, 8 yo son, 6 month old daughter, 2 cats and a dog) OVERNIGHT. If I did that you can do this! lol
