Default I am going to be looking soon

For some new crochet projects. Any suggestions? I have been doing lots of dish cloths for Christmas, but I am still a beginner.

the easiest for me was the ripple afghan.
Maybe it was just because that was the first one I ever made and I made so many of them those first few months.

I also made on and added a popcorn stitch into it for my nephew.

Then I didnt do many other big crochet projects as I got the quilting bug by that fall.

This is most like the ripples I did: http://www.123stitch.com/cgi-perl/it...pl?item=LA2761

one was the indian one, done with blacks and bright varigated and all the others were done with 3 colors or varigated yarns.

this one would be easy

this one could be made with lots of smaller scraps and thrift store/craiglist/yard sale finds.

Scarlett, are you wanting to make things to sell or as gifts?? I found that the little beanie hats for kids (or adults) are neat, and when I was looking for some to buy for dd I could not believe what they sold for. Add a little ribbon and a silk flower call it "boutique" and you can charge 15-20.00 a piece!

I am a person that loves to start new projects.....I just have a hard time finishing them. (I have several unfinished afghans and beanies around here somewhere ) I was thinking of starting to make the dishcloths, as I like using them better than sponges, plus I can knock them out pretty quickly. Do you mind telling me where you found your pattern?

Right now I am doing mainly gifts. I have toyed with selling, but not sure I would make enough for it to be worth it.

I think scarves would be a good next step for you...just be sure you are picking colors that are pretty standard and that you choose a yarn that is soft & not scratchy. There are some nice yarns that are variegated colors of neutrals that make really pretty ones. I have made some in the past (knitting though) and my mil and my aunt both make beautiful ones that they sell.

If you're just looking for something different to practice with - drawstring bags. I don't use a pattern for them, but they're easy.

Start like a granny square - chain 4 or 5 and then slipstitch the last loop into the first. Use whatever stitch you want and start working rows, increasing each row. When it gets to be as big as you want it, start decreasing at the same rate. When the opening gets to be the biggest you want it to stretch, finish that row, then do a separate chain long enough to thread through the edge and have left over to tie a bow.

I have tons of these for makeup bags/junk drawer sorting/etc. If you do little ones with a tighter stitch, you could use them as jewelry/gift card gift bags.

Another quick one - little mini stockings to tie onto presents. Those I'd do for any grab bag things I have - tie it on and put a few pieces of wrapped Christmas candy inside.
