I will be at the midnight showing with my 15 y.o, her best friend and mom. We went to Twilight at midnight and loved it, even with all of the screaming teenagers LOL.
We seem to go to alot of midnight shows or book releases for Harry Potter and now this series.

Taking the risk of having tomatoes thrown at me here....
I love, love, LOVE the books. In fact, obsessed might be a more appropriate term. Waited at the release parties (with the screaming teenagers, not that you could tell the difference between us) read and re-read all of the books. But- I did not like the movie. I could get over the fact that I was disappointed in some of the casting (I think), but some of the scenes were pretty poorly done, imo. Maybe it was the screenwriting, I don't know. Alright, I don't think I can get over the casting. I want to like the movies, but I had such a hard time reading the books after watching Twilight because I pictured the actors and not *my* perfect imagined characters. For instance- Jasper? Seriously???
Anyone one with me here? Or should I get ready to wash my tomato-stained clothes?
No tomatoes here...books are almost always better! I mean, these are some huge books...very detailed & that just can't translate into a 90 minute movie. Also, the 1st movie was made very low budget before the books really hit it big. New Moon was picked up after the success & has a much larger budget, so should be better...less cheesey!

I agree. I loved the books. I borrowed them from a friend who told me I just HAD to read them. I did, fell in love, and ordered them off Amazon the day after I finished Breaking Dawn. Dh was like, you bought books you've already read? He just didn't get it lol. I've watched the movie several times but I believe it could have been a lot better. I would love for someone to re-make it. I think New Moon is going to be 100x better just from what I've seen of the previews. My sil and I can't wait, it's gonna be a night out without kids for her, which is rare.
Hmmm. I think you're right girly, that the budget will probably have a large effect on the quality. I'm still sceptical, but I want to like it. Maybe I'll wait until I hear reviews. I guess I feel like the characters were so relatable to me and that was lost in the first movie. I know, the books are always better, I think I was just hoping for a little more... something.
I havent read any of the books but my kids insisted I rent the movie and watch. I did enjoy it but I'm just not a sequel movie/book type reader. My DH thinks the movie and books are to mature for the kids but it seems like everyone from 3rd grade up just looooooves Twighlight.. The kids want me to take them to see the movie but so I am curious to see the review. From what I understand there are some "Marriage" type references in the 2nd book so I am wondering how the movie will handle this.

Re: 19 days....
I agree, the books are better but DH is interested in the movies.(Who would have thought!!!!!!) To be fair, he tried to read the books and never made it past the 3rd chapter. Anyway, even with the cheesy-ness of Twilight, I loved the movie, and watch it a lot.... Like others have said, with New Moons budget it should be way better. Has anyone seen the comparison between Jacob's wolf figure in the first preview and the most recent one? Side by side you can tell they did a lot of editing and looks WAY better. Things like that keep getting me uber excited!
