My DS loves to go sledding. On Sunday afternoon, he was sledding at a neighbor's yard. Well, he had an accident. He took out one whole baby tooth and his top front baby tooth is bent inwards.
Here is where the irony comes in. He wasn't even sledding! He was walking UP the hill, carrying his sled in front of him. He slipped and did a face plant into the hard plastic edge of the sled.
Thank God DH was home! I nearly passed out from the sight of the blood gushing out of DS' mouth. One entire tooth came out, root to top. DH was so good with him, got him to calm down and then brought him to the ER. DH told him he looks like a hockey player now :p
The good thing is that they were both baby teeth.
And the Tooth Fairy came and left him $5 for the trauma of it all.

ahhh I remember sledding in my yard as a kid.. I went head first into the garden fence and knocked my front tooth out.. I was more upset about finding the tooth int he snow for the fairy then about the blood:)

Thank goodness they were baby teeth! It is nice that the tooth fairy understood about the trauma. I am sure that brought a smile to his face. How old is your little guy?

Oh my goodness! Glad he had no other injuries!!! Maybe he'll have fun with being the hockey player thing and all.

Thank goodness he's going to be ok and they were baby teeth! I'm with you, I would have had trouble with all the blood...glad your dh was there to help. How sweet that the tooth fairy understood and that the ER doc made the hockey comment - your ds will be proud of his "battle wounds" now.

Oh! Poor little guy! That is very ironic that he hurt himself going UP the hill and not DOWN.

Glad they were baby teeth. You may want to talk to the dentist just to be sure he doesn't need a spacer until it is time for the big ones.

It happened to my DS when he was 18 months. He ran, fell and hit a low window sill. Same thing. 2 front teeth knocked out. It took me a while to get used to his toothless grin. When he got older he thought it was cool that he can drink with a straw without opening his mouth. He learned how to eat an apple sideways... Now he is 9 and has no lasting problems.
