Fall is here and so are the Santa Ana Winds. Neighbor's tree fell on our house this morning...no major damage that we have found so far, but there is still a 80ft of tree on my house! Emergency crew cut down what they could with a chainsaw so no more would fall and they cut a small section out so I could open my backdoor so poochy could go potty outside.

Tree company comes tommorow with special equipment to remove and grind up the whole 100ft tree which is split all the way to the ground.

Now if only I could get my Ins agent to call me! I thought State Farm was supposed to be oh so good at helping you in emergency situations...or at least their commercial claims they are!

I think I'll be calling USAA tommorow since they have everything BUT my homeowners Ins. and I never have an issue with them.

Sorry to hear about the tree and your home.

Up here it isn't too windy, surprisingly. Saturday morning in El Mirage it was windy and last night was a lil bit windy, but nothing like the Santa Ana's we usually get. I know they're on their way.

Aw man that stinks! Good luck with the ins. I saw a couple trees down this morning when I went out. We just have a backyard full of leaves and sticks from the neighbors big tree, thankfully thats all. My parents fence is now falling over tho. All the smoke is getting to me.. ugh..

Well blah!

Since I now have a fire threatening me...do you think I qualify as needing help?

What a crappy bday for my little one. Tree fell on the house so she couldn't go outside in the morning because of the danger and then a fire started in the afternoon so she was stuck inside the rest of the day because of all the smoke.

Oh and the "local" news is NOT reporting the local fire because it isn't as exciting as the Malibu one. Evidently it's only "news" if the houses burning down are worth $40 million! GRRRRRR

Man, I couldn't believe that! The Santa Ana winds and fires showed up on our local news last night. I thought we had it bad here with the Chinook winds and forest fire smoke, but you guys are in a tough situation. I hope things turn out OK.

Yep, a lot of fires here. I'm afraid to turn on the news to look at the new damage. The closest fire to me is Aqua Dulce, about an hour west. No smoke here yet.

They'd prolly only report it if the whole town burned down... even then we'd prolly just be a side note.. cant interupt the malibu coverage.. I'm hoping my unlce doesnt get called to the fires. He works for LA county fire but is off right now and hasnt been called in yet. He had to go out to the last malibu fire they had.

You'd think I would get used to this, we only go through this every year. Supposedly the "Nightsky" fire (Santa Rosa Valley) is either out or contained, which is good since my older kiddo is at school RIGHT there.

It's just crazy, I can't see out my windows as the tree is still covereing most of my house. The tree service has failed to show up and remove it... Grrrr

Ok, I am a little furious. Tree service didn't show up and I was getting annoyed when they finally did show up 2 hours late. I found out they were late because the lady who owns the house (and the freakin tree) wanted to negotiate the price! She literally wanted to nickle and dime the guy and LEAVE a freaking 100ft tree on MY house! When he pointed out that it was in her best interest to keep her neighbor's from suing her, she wanted to nitpick on every detail from leaving the tree stump which is 20ft tall, split and GOING TO FALL to see if she could save a few bucks.

Of course she doesn't care...the tree is on MY house and filling MY yard! She doesn't live in her house so why should she care if she creates the worst fire hazard possible. She couldn't even be bothered to come see the wreckage! She even asked if he could just pull the tree off my roof, throw it into her yard and leave it oh and she wants the fence SAVED! It's 30yrs old, rotten and falling over...now that it really has fallen over, I want a NEW fence...I deserve a new fence after all of this! Yes, I have to pay for half since it's half mine but I don't mind. I want a fence that isn't going to fall on my kids!

Do things ever get better? Sometimes people don't think with their heads...

Just came home to find the San Diego fire is way out of control. We've asked for help from Arizonians. There are more structures on fire than crews to put them out. I haven't seen many posts by Candied today. I hope she is okay.

Just found out one of the fires was deliberately set on both sides of the road. Now, we have a fire 30 miles away on the 15 freeway with both sides of the freeway closed. And, Arrowhead has a huge fire also.

Our state has declared a state of emergency for many of these fires.

The wind is horrible here. I have a towel at the bottom of my front door and the towel is BLACK. This is just dust, no fires yet. Gusts 60mph. My nose and hair and ears have fine dirt in them, and I haven't gone outside.

If I see a cow flying by, I'm outa here... LOL

I need to go to the store, but the blowing dust is just awful.

And it's predicted to be this way until Thursday.

I love California, I really do!

Jore I'm so sorry! I hope they get it cleaned up quick, and I'm glad that you are all ok, how scary!

I'm sorry and hope it will be over soon. I know neighbors can be annoying nickle and diming during a emergency.

Ugh neighbors can be a PIA. Hope the tree got cleared and you get a new fence. Part of my parents fence blew over this morning and it went into the other ppls backyard and the lady was flipping out that it was hurting her plants.

Oh my goodness Jore. I haven't been around much lately today - been super busy at work and my internet was down while they were working in my office.

We haven't experienced the crazy gusty winds yet here. Just a couple of minutes at the most since yesterday.

We are doing okay - nothing to report.

Jore, what a crazy mess! Did they clear away the tree yet? Honestly, what is wrong with some people. That nut of a neighbor almost deserves a lawsuit, IMHO...

Tree is completely gone on my side. To save a lil $$$ she left the gigantic stump and roots on her side.

Tried to claim we could prop the fence back up... but the wind smashed it to bits today! YIPPEE!!!

SHE will pay to have those freaking roots cut back to have a new fence put it. I am certainly not going to and will most definately sue her if needed. I am so sick of living next to a house that is literally crumbling to the ground because she won't repair or maintain a thing.
