THE birthday is approacihing and I have to make 3 birthday cakes. I dont have to make them all , but I really enjoy it. DH and both boys share a birthday on February 7th.

We have a joint family party for them and this is where DS4 will have his special cake, until he is older and has parties with school friends. He said he wants a Michael Jackson cake! but I may be able to convince him to change his mind... maybe spiderman? Any ideas on how to make a MJ cake? lol.

DH was joking and said he wants a Barbie cake but I'm totally gonna do it. The kids will have fun helping me. I'm going to do the ball gown type. Soo fun!! Has anyone ever made one? Any tips?

Ds10 has his own party with friends on another day and he usually wants a giant frosted cookie from the mall for this. I'll have a cake for him at our joint family party so has something for his candles, but its simpler since he has another party. Last year i made the duggar ice cream cake. It was a big hit. Any other ideas for ice cream cakes, or someting else easy and fun?

THANKS!

No ideas, but I am sure the internet has a billion ideas for these types of cakes.

But quick question - your DH and 2 sons have the same birthday? How crazy is that!

You could do a white glove for the MJ cake :). That probably wouldn't be too hard. I don't know how basic or intricate you want, but you could do just a web for Spiderman, and get a lil figurine to stick in the web. Or, I have an awesome ice cream cake recipe from a girl at work, I'll have to ask her tomorrow and post it. It's basically ice cream sandwiches, chocolate syrup (I think), and cool whip. There may be crushed oreos in it, or I may be thinking of another recipe. It is seriously so delish!

DANG - I just looked up the Duggar cake you made last year and mine's about the same, just no caramel syrup or butterfingers. Nevermind about that, then.

LOL and I thought that my son and his daughter having a shared birthday is unique-------------guess not much!

I must say, you have perfect timing! (to give birth twice on your DH's birthday)

I have a recipe for an Ice Cream "cake", but there is no actual cake in it. It's layers of ice cream, cookies, skor bars, hershey's syrup and so forth... It's YUMMY if you would like something completely different than the 2 cakes you'll be making.

I've probably posted this before but I'll post again.. lol. its a fun story.

The first time I was due on Feb 14th. At some point in January my doc discovered he was upside down and stuck that way. He wasnt able to move him so we scheduled a csection. He told us to schedule something around 39 weeks which was Feb 7th - dh's birthday. We didnt tell the doctor about the birthday and asked him to just schedule us, we didnt want to chose the day. He chose the 7th.

Fast forward 5 years and 3 months. I had to take Clomid due to secondary infertility. When my cycle started, it occurred to me it was similar time of year that I conceived the first time. I dug out my pregnancy calendar and realized my cycles started on the exact same day. The Clomid did its job and I was pregnant.

When it came time to schedule the c-section, I again asked the doc to pic the day because I didnt want to do it, and he chose Feb 8th but I woke up having contractions on the 7th. Called the hospital, showered, gave the big guys their gifts, installed the carseat, and drove myself to the hospital between contractions. Dh joined me after he got ds to school.

That is such an awesome story. My grandmother had my dad on her birthday, August 12. My due date with DD9 was August 13th, but didn't have her until August 19. I think my dad really wanted her born on his birthday and I should have asked and had it done but didn't think about it.

I think that is just so funny and cool.

Ice Cream Cake

2 half gallons of ice cream (different flavors)
1 package Coconut Macaroon Cookies - crumbled
3 Heath or Skor bars - chopped
Hershey's Chocolate syrup

Spread 1/2 of cookie crumbs on the bottom of a springform pan. Spread 1/2 gallon of softened ice cream on the crumbs. Spread choc. syrup on top of the ice cream, top with other 1/2 of cookie crumbs and 1/2 of the chopped Skor bars. Place in freezer to harden.

Then spread the 2nd half gal of ice cream into the pan, top with another layer of syrup and the other 1/2 of the chopped Skor bars. Freeze until ready to serve. To serve, remove the ring from the springform pan. If ring is difficult to remove, rub it with a warm, wet towel.

I was going to suggest the white glove too. I did a spider man one, from a wilton cake pan, it was pretty easy. I've also made one of the barbie ones, that was the easiest ones i've done, again i had the pan.

Happy Birthday to them all :)

go to cakecentral dot com - (admins hope it is ok to post this). I believe you have to join to view the galleries, but it's free. I searched for Michael Jackson and they have 6 pages of cake ideas.

Hope this helps.

Warning - the site is addicting....

Thanks everyone. Susan I will check out that site!

He really does want Michael jackson - but he really isnt into the white glove. He asked for a costume, but the one he likes best is without the glove. lol.

My mom is fantastic at throwing together costumes so it will be her gift to him this year. I sent her the youtube video of the outfit he wants and she found everything she needs at a few thrift shops.

Jore that cake looks great. I think I'll do that one. :) plus ONE Michaeal jackson cake, one barbie cake. :) Im gonna go buy me a new barbie just for this. My old ones are sooo nasty looking. :)

My first thought, too, was "white glove" but then my second thought was "Hamburger Helper" so that probably wouldn't have worked anyway :p

What about the shoes on point in the spotlight? The picture I'm thinking of is here, but it's a blurrier one than I remember. May be a better copy of it out there somewhere:

Can you find a picture of MJ and just put it on a plain cake? You can pipe around the edges of the pic. Or you might be able to find a pic of MJ and take it up to Walmart-- they can transfer the pic to a sugar image that looks just like the pic and you just put that on top of a plain cake. I actually took a T shirt up to WM and they copied the pic on it into a sugar image and made a cute cake for a coworker.
