View Full Version : A question about the tatas!
Hello!
So....this may border on TMI, but I would like answers and I don't want to call my doctor cause she's been so amazing with all the blood tests and phone calls and I know she's extremely busy even without holding my hand. I will talk to her on Friday when I get the results on the latest blood test, but until then...maybe someone here could help?
My breasts are sore. I'm only 5-1/2 weeks along so I'm thinking maybe it's too early for it to be a pregnant thing, but hey...I've never been pregnant so maybe? It's more the left one than the right one with the soreness, but they both have what feels like a small hard fist underneath the nipple area. It hurts so much when I lay on my back that I start panting, but laying on either side or my tummy is fine. Also, it doesn't allow me to take in a really deep breath, I get a pain shoot right through the nipple and deeper. After sleeping last night, I must have slept really funny trying to protect it because this morning my shoulder blade and muscles along my rib cage feel stiff.
I should also mention that back in August I had my annual mammogram and they found fibrous masses in both breasts, I am to go for a follow up in the end of February for that.
So is the fist sized rock something normal when you are first pregnant? Am I just a wimp for finding this so uncomfortable?

I had a lot of breast soreness in the beginning but nothing felt hard. Just very tender to touch or pressure. I would definately consult your OB about anything that feels like a mass.

I could barely even wear clothing the first couple weeks when I was pregnant with my first! OMG it was horrible! It was how I knew without a doubt I was expecting because I'd never felt so awful before. With this bean I had pain but didn't clue into it till about week 8, and I could barely wear clothing again and I'm still having some tenderness at almost 21 weeks. I don't know about the rock, but I would keep an eye on it. Oh and yes soreness is one of the earliest symptoms!!
Best of luck, still thinking and praying for you all the way!!

I think its just the effect of the pregnancy hormones on your breast tissue. I wouldn't be too concerned. Mention it to your healthcare provider on Friday to be sure.
Hello! And thanks ladies!
That is kinda the way I'm leaning too. I'm not all freaking out about it, I'm concerned....but ya...just keeping an eye on it and will be talking to my doctor about it on Friday.
I feel a little like an idiot with all this. This is new, that is new...should I be concerned...should I just ignore stuff. I don't know what to make a deal out of and what not to. Ugh!
Thank you for all your good wishes and your advice! It is so appreciated!

Nez, I didn't have any hard tissue in my breasts but with all 3 of mine my breasts were really tender. That is the first symptom of pregnancy I had... painful breasts.
Oh yeah, my boobs were so sore and grew over a size in the first 2 months. Not hard, just tender.

Ice packs help - first time I was PG was in the middle of a January freeze, I kept standing with my breasts pressed against the glass of the back porch door just to ease the pain!

I have fibrous, dense breast tissue & when I was pregnant with DD they were hard & painful. About 2 weeks prior to my TOM they get "harder" and sore, but that was intensified 1000 times while I was pregnant.

The first two weeks I played it off to being my period coming up. Then my period didn't come when it should have and ohh man did my boobs urt like crazy! My nipples were so so sensitive. I couldn't wear a bra but having a shirt rub on me without a bra hurt worse. They were pretty swollen but I don't remember lumps or hardness of any sort until around 4 months when the milk glands started swelling and leaking.
It's up to you to ask your OB but you never know how serious or not serious this could be.

I think Maggie is wishing she had thought of that when the firefighters came!

LMAO
I can SO see that in my head right now. If I were a sketch artist I'd whip up my rendering of it but I'm just not that good. I guess that'll be my own personal image. You make your own!

You know it!!!!! :D
I think I figured it out. I somehow hurt my shoulder last weekend while on my cleaning spree. I figured it was just a sore joint and would go away. Apparently not so much. The joint itself doesn't hurt anymore, but the muscles around it do, and my shoulder blade, across the top of my shoulder, neck, pectorals...here's the weird part though. The muscles around my rib cage somehow are tense too. It was the shoulder blade and neck that sent me to my massage therapist for a session this afternoon and I told her what was going on and she started working everything. It's crazy, even where the pecs join the sternum in the front? Tense and knotted up. While she was working on me it stopped hurting and I could lay on my back and breathe without pain. It's starting to come back though. Ugh. I have another appointment on Saturday.
But there we go. I'm still going to mention the small rocks in the tatas to my doctor, but I think I figured out the rest.
p.s.
had a sneezing fit this afternoon....dear lord....I was ready to end it all.....lol

if it's the muscles and tendon's around your shoulders, and not your ta tas. heat certainly will help, as will NASIDs, but I have no idea if you should take those being pg and all.
rest for a few days and apply heat, and if it dosen't get better see a doctor, you could have torn a tendon or have tendionitis from overuse. they can do therapy with you that will help. also be careful not to sleep on the affected shoulder and not to sleep with your arms above your head.
i've had tendonitis in my shoulders for over 10 years now from swimming, so I feel you on the pain! never had it hurt in my ta tas though, lol!
lol Nikki! I think it was just a combination of sore tender tatas and then the muscles all around them being tense....meh...I'm not a doctor...I misdiagnosed. lol
I will be doing the heat and my husband and I are switching sides in bed tonight so I can not sleep on the sore side. Thanks for the tips!!

I sure hope you don't sneeze if you have a c-section. My gosh I almost cried in the hospital when I'd sneeze.
OH man!! That would be awful!! And my sneezes? They never come alone...they come in 10's. It's exhausting!! lol
You poor thing! My sneezes come in spurts as that.
Original question. Definately ask but I slept in sports bras in the beginning of both pregnancies. They hurt to put on but it was better than the alternative of anyone who dared touch me or touch the bed I was lying on had better be able to run fast.
Lucy, that is kinda funny. I just came to that conclusion today! I was getting dressed this morning and grabbed my sports bra for some reason. I thought maybe....just maybe it might be more comfortable. And it was! I will be living in this thing from now on, I'm sure! lol
