Boyfriend bought a holiday package of Ferrero Rochers for us to eat over the holidays. :) We've really been enjoying them. Back home, usually a few boxes of Russell Stover chocolates also get exchanged. What is your go-to chocolate assortment to give? What do you like to receive?

I really don't care for any of the "fancy" chocolates that are readily available in supermarkets, drug stores, etc. I'd rather have the cheap stuff (Reeces PB trees, York peppermint patties, Andes mints, etc.). But I grew up with Ben Heggy's Chocolates (http://www.heggys.com/) at Christmas. My Grandpa used to take a trip to their store to buy pounds and pounds of chocolates. He would then divide it up and give each family (he had four children) a big gallon-sized ziploc bag full. My family's bag was always gone within 1-2 weeks. We love their creams and the nut clusters dipped in chocolate the most. Yum! I should have ordered some this year!

We have a local chocolate shop that makes the best chocolate covered potato chips, they are to.die.for. We get them for Vday, bdays, Christmas. My dad usually gets them for his girls. So good!

How interesting!! I've never given or received chocolate, except as a hostess gift. DH got me a heart shaped box of chocolate for VDay one year, I was totally insulted!!

My family doesn't really do a lot of chocolate on Christmas day either (we're more of a cheese log/popcorn tin gang), but boyfriend said his Christmas isn't complete without various assortments of chocolate. As if all the cookies and fudge we eat in the month leading up to Christmas aren't enough...

Fannie May. They all closed down for a while a few years ago and it was equally as devastating as the death of Marshall Fields in my family (possibly moreso). They finally reopened, but they never put a store back in town here, so I have to drive to the next town over to find a Fannie May store now.

Growing up, grandma got whoever was hosting Christmas three 2lb boxes (2 to serve, one to keep), and each other family got their own 2lb box to take home. For birthdays, valentines, etc, if my dad was shooting for major brownie points, whatever gift he got my mom (or me for b-days) included Pixies or Meltaways.

I'll take anything chocolate, at least once. I also like the bagged stuff the most. However, I did use belgium chocolate in my fondue fountain and that was heavenly. We don't usually give or receive chocolate. But, we've been known to get a box of See's.

I've heard of him before, but just saw his store featured on Food Network yesterday. I think it was on "The best thing I ever ate was...", and Giada was talking about his wicked hot chocolate. Looked delicious.

I love chocolate, any kind (well, except white chocoalte). Can't say that I every really get any for gifts. When we were growing up, I can remember my grandma always getting chocolate covered cherries around the holidays.

Aw man, I wish we would have tried those while in Melbourne. I know DH took the boys for chocolate there but he didn't mention those!!

I've never really gotten chocolate as a gift. My uncle gives my mom several pounds each Christmas. Used to always be which I like but then he switched to Godiva. Mom always shares :) although I don't like the Godiva much it will work if I'm needing a chocolate fix. My fave is the Bordeaux ones from Sees.

There is a DeBrand Chocolatier in Fort Wayne that I used to LOVE! Much better than the mall DeBrand's b/c it's all fresh and nothing is packaged in the fancy wrappers yet. Very yummy! Loved getting stuff from there... had a hard time giving it away though! ;)

All LINDOR chocolate is my favorite .

I am a huge fan of dark chocolate up to about 60% ,anything darker than that (although better for you) is just too much for me !

Since moving here I have become a fan of Fanny Mays too ,and of course Russell Stover :)

Now I want some ,and all I have left from Christmas are 2 little choc covered Goji berries floating around in a box :D

I'm happy with Russell Stovers or Whitman's Samplers. I like filled chocolates-- doesn't matter what kind of centers. I do prefer dark chocolate though.

Hey Betsy-- Here's a travel tip-- when you go to Switzerland just buy the chocolate bars from their grocery stores. Its a lot cheaper and just as good as what they sell in those little specialty shops. The bars pack easier too. The next time I go to Europe I'm going to bring home a ton of chocolate-- everyone wanted some-- so in the end, I didn't end up with any for myself:(

My sister sent me some Godiva Dark Chocolate biscuits (cookies) for Christmas & they were exceptional! I hid them deep in my pantry & have been having 1 or 2 every day! They're almost gone...must find more!

I'm a Godiva fan as well. :) I love their truffles, and can't go by the store without stopping in. Luckily you can purchase the truffles individually (not that I normally do....). It's not to expensive to just purchase one to enjoy that day. :)

We actually did this in Belgium. :) Although all the chocolate in the speciality shops looked delicious, we bypassed all of them to get standard 100g bars of chocolate in the grocery store.

This totally reminded me of my brother's chocolate bar fiasco when he ate the chocolate his wife brought back from the UK and tried to replace it!
I don't know how it ended up....I tried to separate myself when he was making it worse and worse. I did NOT want to be implicated in that! He wasn't even sharing the chocolate! lol

I usually give my DH Lindor or Ferrero Rocher.

If he wants to score major brownie points he'll get me this (http://debrand.com/shop/chocolate-gift-box.cfm#) (9 piece). :) I love DeBrand, but they closed their Indy store so now I can only get it by mail-order. He did bring a box back from a conference in Ft. Wayne once, though.

At my old job, one of the attorneys who worked for us would send a DeBrand tower ever Christmas. You have never seen an office full of people get more catty and conniving as when that tower showed up and people started plotting how to get their hands on some (it was technically only for one department and it was up to them if they wanted to share that day or not).

I saw that about a month ago and had to order some of his Wicked Hot Chocolate. I like it. It's not cheap. I think it was about $30.00 for a small tin of it but it was a treat.

hmmm I love chocolate and usually don't discriminate. Some cheapy stuff is gross - like the cheapy novelty stuff. Other than that it's all good!

I can't say that I've ever given chocolate as a gift, unless it's in a stocking or Easter basket or on Valentines Day...and it's nothing fancy. I did get some chocolate in my stocking this year, but I have no clue what kind it is.

I completely missed your post the first time, otherwise I would have quoted it.

It seems like DeBrand is pretty popular on here, especially considering how small a company it is.
