View Full Version : I have an induction date!

Due to the complexity of our work schedules (we are self employed and have unextendable deadlines), the fact that I have 4 kids and no family nearby, and the fact that our other kids have several things gong on I finally decided to be induced again this time. I have been induced for health reasons the other 4 times, but essentially, I have now picked a date that we WILL have this baby by if we don't have him before!
I tend to have very large babies, and they've moved my due date up already and I'm still measuring large, so I'm glad that I'm going to do this about a week early.
So I'm set for Jan. 20th unless this baby decides to come on his own...which he might, but seeing that I've never gone into labor on my own, I'm a bit doubtful! This also allows us to be home in time for our 4th's BD.
I know not everyone believes in induction, but it works well for my family and I...it is better than having 4 kids at the hospital while I deliver and not having my DH by my side. So, I'm excited!

I loved my induced birth, it was far less painful than my non-induced (go figure..).
I can't wait!! Have you chosen a name?

wow - I didn't realize you were sooo close! I'm hoping, for your sake, he stays put until the 20th!
Both my kids were induced and all 3 of my sis' kids were induced. It really does make it sooo much easier for scheduling.

LOL boy I feel old! I didnt know they set the dates that far in advance.
I hope it all goes as planned and all goes well.
They broke my water with my first----------somehow I think induction is a bit more meds than that. That was how they induced labor for me.
Just 7 short weeks left until you get to meet your little guy. I bet the kids are getting excited.
LOL you got that closet and dresser drawer cleaned out for him yet?

It went fast for me too...and it is about to go faster as I have 1 college course to finish teaching and will be 1/2 way through another one when I have this baby. Plus, with Christmas and another birthday to plan for that next week. Oh, and we can't forget the trip out of town with the 3 kids and finish up the Christmas toy drive I run for our church....it isn't long enough! I have to create room for him yet, pull down his clothes, and make more meals.
It is going to be BUSY BUSY BUSY.
I do think we have a name Jore. The kids picked it. However, since this is a public board, I can't post it on here since I don't reveal my kids' names....you never know who is lurking!

Yaya congratulations! I can imagine knowing a date with your lifestyle is very very helpful.
DH and I always wanted a surprise, but We went to the doctor on Tuesday and I told DH "I am not going to work today no matter what they say, I feel like crap" and the doctor comes back in after the exam and goes "Wanna have a baby tomorrow?!" THANK GOODNESS! I had a better excuse not to go to work hah. She was 6 days early.
I hope to experience labor the next time around. I'd SO love to freak out a coworker by having my water break. "Radio to units, medical emergency in dispatch!" LOL awesome...
Nonetheless, enough of my crazy blabbering. Good luck!

Personally, I would rather let nature do its work (and only induce IF the baby is baked for his/her proper time). I hope the date that you guys picked works out for you, however, nature could still work before your date :rolleyes:.

I can't tell you enough how glad I am that I missed out on that threat. :p Although I may resend your invite to the new house while your preggers. I bet that's hard to get out of the carpet ...

Congratulations! I was induced 3 out of 4 babies and I never had a problem with it. Like you said, it's nice to be able to schedule a bit when you have other children that you need to account for! It lets you relax (as much as possible when in labor!!) and focus on the task at hand!
