But how? My natural color is a dark blonde/light brunette. I've been coloring my hair the last few years to a reddish color. My hairdresser told me the only way to do it was to let it grow out. She said that I could use "Fancifull" in the meantime because it isn't permanent and doesn't have ammonia in it. I went and got some - but it made NO difference. Looks like it always has.

Any other ways? Or do I have to deal with horrible roots for the next year while it grows out? (I have long hair)

Can you color your hair as close to the original color as possible and then when it grows out, it won't be any different from your natural color.

That is what I was going to suggest. When the few times that I have gotten my hair colored (crown weave), the blond was getting to light, so she colored my hair my "natural color" and did some more highlights (or whatever there called).

Infusium leave in treatment worked wonders on my hair when it went through a nasty dry spell due to a perm I should never of gotten done. Also, make your last rinse in the shower with cool water, not warm.

I just changed my color from lots of blond back to brunette. I actually went darker with the allover color and my highlights are close to my natural shade. They can always choose a color close to yours and it won't show so much when it grows out.

I wonder if your hairdresser told you that because of the red? I had my license at one point and I that's the only thing I can think of and that's if you had been using a henna form of a dye. Sometimes with henna it can react funny with other chemicals. If what was used wasn't henna based....I don't see why you couldn't dye it close to your natural color.

I wanted to do this too, but then found that I am almost totally gray. At 31 that was pretty depressing. I guess haircolor is going to be my best friend for a long time. ;)
