...and I think it is pretty funny! Just wanted to share.
Actually, I don't consider it hiding money, more like squirreling it away.
He has been talking for quite a while about buying a gun, which I have no problem with. The only problem is that the gun he wants is about $600-$800, and he knows that money would be better spent elsewhere.
So he confesses in an e-mail today that he has been squirreling away money here and there for this purchase. DH felt the need to confess, because he wants to purchase the gun today. Here's the e-mail:
I have a confession, and an apology. I have (since Sept.) been stashing a little cash on the side for a gun. I have been talking to xxxxx about it. He said if he finds a good deal, he would pick it up for me and if I didn't want it he would turn around and sell it. He was out of town and said he would be working with some friends who could hook him up. He said he would most likely have one today, I won't know until class tonight. I told him I had about $350.00 to spend. Do you mind? I'm really, really sorry I didn't discuss it with you earlier, I just kind of let the situation "go adrift" but now that it's time (possibly) to act, I can't just go behind your back and do it. Once again I am sorry.
Love you,
I know the friend, he is former law enforcement and is trustworthy. The sale would be legit and DH would register the gun.
We have a good marriage and I trust him fully. He doesn't like to do any of the household finances so all money matters are my responsibility. I think this is his way of having some sort of control over day to day money. We're not in a financial pinch, so I don't mind the purchase. I just think it's cute how he confessed!
