I was glued to my TV all afternoon! Woo hoo, I'm so glad the season is starting back up.
Tony fan here so the first race made me happy...let's not discuss the 2nd one :(

He's off to a good start! Let's hope for much fence climbing!
I don't want to discuss the second race either!

Nice to see that we apparently have the same taste ;)
As for the fence climbing, I'm disappointed that he didn't do it today...OR last week. Grrr...
It would be a great start to the season if he pulls out a win on Sunday. No driver has ever won the shootout, the duel AND the 500...Keep your fingers crossed.
Do you have DirecTV? We subscribed to their Nascar Hot Pass...Tony will have his very own channel on Sunday. Way cool.

So who won them? And what do you guys think about the "cheating" that's going on?

Tony Stewart won the first race!
Jeff Gordon won the second race!
Jeff's car FAILED inspection! Car 24: you're TOO LOW!
Funny you should ask about the cheating. I the entry in my blog yesterday was about that very thing! Here's my entry:
The crew chiefs on five NASCAR Nextel Cup teams have been suspended. One of them indefinitely. The suspensions are for infractions discovered on the cars after Sunday's qualifying*. Until NASCAR takes this seriously and suspends the ENTIRE team from competition it will continue. It is always the same teams. When will NASCAR listen to it's fans and penalize these teams so it really hurts? Are we becoming the WWE?
The points penalties are so small the teams aren't phased. The $25,000-$50,000 fines mean nothing to the multimillion dollar teams. The suspended crew chief can work on the cars all week long. He can have contact with the team during the race. He just cannot be at the track during the race weekend. In my opinion, NASCAR's "punishments" are jokes.
I am pretty sure when NASCAR tells a team their car AND driver will not take the track, the message will be heard.
*I thought all the "cheating" was found after qualifying, but read today two of them were found before the cars took the track.

I was wondering if he was saving the climbing for the races that "count". I was a little disappointed he didn't climb too.
We do have DirecTV, but haven't subscribed to the Hot Pass. Not that I haven't thought about it.

I had not heard that Jeff Gordon's car failed inspection - just Michael Waltrip, Casey Kahne, Scott Riggs, Elliot Sadler, and Matt Kenseth.
The DirecTV Hotpass is a free preview this weekend. We will be watching Dale Jr.'s channel - he is my sons favorite driver.

Yep, Jeff's failed after his Duel just this afternoon. It was nearly an inch too low. He will start 42 on Sunday. Pemberton said it's likely there will be no other penalties.

Oooh...I just got an email that the Hot Pass will be FREE on Sunday during the 500. I'll have to check it out!
