What are some odd things that you save?
I save envelopes, I use them to sort coupons for trains, food groupos and when sending to military. other things too.
I also save ever single pen I have untill it breaks or stops working.
Rubber bands, its not like I need anymore yet I save them
Candle wax, after I freeze, I take a knife, pop out the candle wax and then put it in a ziplock (odder yet today i bought candles that had no wicks!)

DH saves those black plastic containers that frozen food like Tyson beef tips and gravy come in. It drives me absolutely insane!

I save twisty ties! I have a baggie full. I don't know why I need so many. I just toss them in a drawer when I am done with a loaf of bread. They do come in handy sometimes though!

I do the bread ties thing too. I have a mason jar full of them. I actually save the bread bags too so I can use them for my homemade loaves.

Nothing, I throw away way to much stuff at times! The only think I keep is the bags from the grocery store, but thats not odd.
Left over thread from x-stitch kits. I *might* need it one day. At least it is contained to 1 sandwich sized ziplock.

I have several bags of single socks. You just never know when we will find the mate.
My husband saves straps off duffel bags. He works at an airport. Now thats just weird to me. Oh he finds them, not steals them off bags.

Bread wrapper tie story -- My sister's MIL had a drawer full of them when she moved. Sister scooped them into a gallon ziplock -- had a hard time squashing them all in. Her SIL picked up the bag and next Christmas a brother found it wrapped with his name on it. They've passed that bag around the family for ten years or more of birthdays and Christmas -- everybody uses out of it and everybody claims they never replenish it. AT that rate, there's plenty for the next twenty or thirty years! Does it put saving into a new light when you think of the following generations that will benefit/suffer from your thriftiness?? LOL -- sorry just had to share. I have a bunch of stuff I've saved just because it is weird -- but that's another story!

THAT is an awesome story. :)
Regarding the duffle bag straps.... if you find yours is missing when you claim it at the carousel, check inside the bag or in one of the pockets. If you don't remove it yourself the airline employees take it off and put it inside the bag. It will get caught on something inside the bag system and could damage the bag or equipment, so that's why they are taken off. If they don't get taken off they are sometimes ripped off by the equipment.

I save jars. I have no idea why. I have probably 100 Ragu jars in our basement. I have no clue what I will ever do with them. I also save plastic food containers, like margarine tubs and Cool Whip tubs. I use those for packing lunches.
We used to save bottle caps. I was going to use them to make a top for our bar. We had a huge box full of them. But the box was sitting on the floor and it got soaked when the sanitary sewer backed up. I didn't feel like disinfecting thousands of bottle caps, so they went in the trash. We haven't saved any since then.
