I am going absolutely nuts trying to find bedding that I like. DD is due no later than Jan 17th (just found out they won't let me go past 39 weeks due to potential complications), and we are SO not ready. Anyway, I digress....

I had found a set that I like - morning glory by zz baby, and have ordered it from not 1, but 2 sites, both indicating that it was in stock, only to find out via e-mail later that they're out. The only other website I've found it on, the toll-free number has been disconnected (not a good sign, in my book).

I've looked at babies r us, but nothing caught my fancy. I'm not a real pinky kind of person - really want to go with a lavender and white theme. The one I like is lavender, green and white, and I'm just having a hard time finding anything else that I want.

Anyone have any suggestions for some great sites? I know the baby won't care if her room is ready or not, but I'd just love to have one less thing to stress about. Got DS's 3rd b-day and Christmas pageant done yesterday, now just have Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year's to get through :)

For my two girls, I bought everything seperately. The sheets were always white so I could wash the sheets with bleach. I then bought a seperate dust ruffle to go under the mattress. I never bothered with the blanket or bumpers since I felt they were not necessary. Babies shouldn't sleep with a heavy crib blanket anyway so why do they sell them. Crib bumpers aren't really needed either since the baby (at least early on) doesn't move around much, and then when they do start moving around, it can become a strangulation hazard. I focused on decorating the nursery walls instead of decorating the crib.

I guess I didn't really give you any suggestions on where to buy stuff. Sorry. I am a minimalist when it comes to baby stuff. Babies just don't need all the extra stuff we tend to buy them.

I have to agree. I spent so much money and time and effort on stuff that lastest a minimal amount of time and they honestly didn't enjoy or remember. It's more for us, which is fine.

I also did white for the sheets so I could bleach them, I figured they'd make messes. If I did it again I wouldn't worry about the bumper pad or blanket they rarely used the blanket and the bumper pad was pointless.

As the PP said concentrate on the walls and furniture and less about the sheets. Maybe something solid would be easier.

I totally agree about the blanket - my son's just ended up hanging on the wall as a decoration - I've never figured out why they package so many things as sets. Well, besides the fact that we end up buying them, that is. I'd just like to find some pattern/fabric that I like that I could purchase the curtains/valance, and crib dust ruffle in. Something, ANYTHING......besides making it myselft, that is. The sewing machine my Mom got me for Christmas last year is still in it's box in my closet:o

Well you won't like my suggestion then!

I was very, very tired of pink & pastels after my first child so I took the bedding from my first child and just recovered it. It was very simple, I made a new blanket (a large useable fleece one) I took the old bumpers, sewed a tube of new material inserted the old bumper, sewed it shut, stitched down the corner seams and sewed on ribbon ties. I took the original bedskirt and just sewed new gathered material over the original overhang. I used plain white sheets.

Custom crib bedding and it was done in less than 2 weeks. Everyone kept asking how I managed to find a non-pastel jungle themed bedding for her room.

Ooops, I was just going to suggest making it yourself, they have some really easy patterns, or maybe if you have a friend that sews. I will say that I loved having the blanket and bumper pads. When my girls got closer to a year old, they both would roll around in their sleep and bang their heads on the crib rails (when they were smaller it didnt matter so much) then I used the blankets for play time on the floor, clean changing area when out somewhere. Also when they got to be arounf 18 months and I was moving them out of the crip, I started to put the blanket on them, this way I wasnt worried about tangling ina big blanket, but it was more of a security to them since they knew the blanket.

I drove myself all over town looking for the right crib set. I ended up buying my set from Pottery Barn kids. I am very very happy with the quality, but it was pricey! If I had it to do over again I would have settled on something from Babies R US. I think about how much money I wasted on something she only sleeps on. I love how her room turned out (garden theme), but it was a lot of work for this pregnant Momma. ;)

I know you said you didn't want pink, but I saw this the other day and fell in love with the colors. If you use one of the other colors as your main color in the room, I think the pink would fade into the background.

The funny thing is that the set that I liked is pretty much a combination of the two you guys listed! The patterns and designs from the first one, with more of the colors from the second. Just goes to show you that us GG'ers have more in common than a love of coupons!

EBAY!!!! Look under baby bedding.

They have an AWESOME selection and good prices too!! They're lower than anything you would find in the store. They have one particular seller that has the most beautiful sets at very, very reasonable prices. I have bought several with only the highest satisfaction.

Take a look - I think you'll find several that you'll love. Most of the sets come with quilt, sheet, skirt, diaper holder, toy bag and curtain!

Good Luck!!

Thanks, CBella - I hadn't really thought of ebay, but I ended up finding something that I really like. I tried and tried to figure out how to copy the picture into the post, but all I ended up with was a link. I think it's ok, because it's just the picture, but admins, feel free to edit as necessary. Thanks for all of your suggestions!

Sorry. I am a minimalist when it comes to baby stuff. Babies just don't need all the extra stuff we tend to buy them.

I must say that i completely agree. It all looks nice, but it's not really what they need. I just bought crib sheets (mostly white), and my mom made me some blankets. That was about it. I had a bumper and comforter given to me by someone, but it kept getting in the way so I got rid of it.

The rooms posted are beautiful, but personally I'd rather take the money spent on all that finery and invest in diapers or their college fund myself. (that's not knocking those who do have rooms like that, just not for me)

Who buys baby stuff for babies:D

It's all really for us!!! My daughter couldn't care less about all the pretty, frilly things I bought her but it kept mommy occupied and happy! And I'll tell ya spit up looks better on purple lace :D

Either way you go buy extra sheets and lap pads. That's all I ever really NEEDED if you go buy the definition of need.
